Hi, I'm Solomon Obadia.
I’m a web designer, developer and graphic designer based in North York, working with small and medium businesses across Toronto and the GTA. I’ve been doing this for twenty years, in two languages.
Simple, clean, and useful to the person on the other end.
I have a passion for creating projects that are simple and clean and that provide real value to the end user. Delivering creative and functional work within a reasonable timeframe and budget, while exceeding the client’s requirements, is my motto.
In practice that means I don’t decorate. Every choice on a page is there to help someone find what they came for — a phone number, an appointment button, a price, a reason to trust you. The design is what makes that feel effortless.
It also means you talk to the person doing the work. There’s no account manager relaying your feedback to a designer who relays it to a developer. You tell me, and I do it.
Fully bilingual — and it shows in the work.
Plenty of designers will tell you they can handle a French page. Fewer have laid out bilingual real estate publications for Quebec, built French course pages for a language school, or produced sell sheets in both languages for the same client.
French copy runs roughly 15–20% longer than English. If nobody plans for that, the layout breaks, the accents get mangled, and the French version quietly looks like an afterthought. I design both versions properly, from the start.
Where I learned it.
Web Designer / Developer
Built WordPress websites for primarily dental clients using WordPress, CSS, HTML, JavaScript, PHP and a range of plugins.
Web Designer
Produced WordPress sites for clients across many professions, primarily using WordPress, CSS, HTML and JavaScript.
Computer Technician
Microsoft server and cloud applications including Office 365 and Dynamics CRM, plus server-side ASP.NET (MVC) and the modern client-side stack.
Bilingual Layout Artist
Designed layout advertising for monthly real estate publications across the Québec, Ontario and Western regions using InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
Layout Artist
Created quarter-page to full-page black and white and full colour process advertisements across a wide range of professions.
How I trained.
JavaScript and ReactJS
A solid foundation in JavaScript, ES6 and the React framework — JavaScript essentials, command line usage, local development in React and integration with Redux.
Web & Mobile Development Diploma
Developing applications for mobile platforms including Android, iOS and Windows Phone, with a 16-week internship for real-world experience.
Graphic Design Diploma
A strong overall grounding in design — corporate design, advertising design, typography, life drawing and illustration.
